I took about 30K of 165K words out of a story during grammar and
spelling. It seems to me that in order to see grammar, I have to look
at the language anew. So I see duplication and circular writing, and
can't really let that go. By duplication I mean when I say the same
thing in different ways, rather than moving text and forgetting to
   delete the first copy.

Everybody has their own forms of throat clearing. Sometimes I'll write
what needs to happen, and then I'll go back and give it some color and
life, but then I've got the scene written twice, and then drive on.
