   I would need to see some research on that. Rayon is cellulose   
   that's been melted down and extruded ... it's still better than   
   polyester, which is extruded *plastic*. I have a dress made of   
   bamboo fabric and it's stood up to many washings in commercial   
   washing machines; I've never tried lye on it. But it felt   
   sufficiently rough against my skin that I had to line the bodice   
   area with cotton. It *feels* as if it hadn't been melted down   
   and extruded, just beaten the heck out of.
