   I mostly end up watching productions on DVD, but only because I can't
   really afford professional live theater and I'm allergic to crowds
   anyway. (I don't mean that metaphorically. It's the perfumes and
   tobacco smoke that I'm really allergic too, but just try avoiding
   exposure to those while in a crowd!)

   But there's something about a live performance that seems to strongly
   appeal to me.   ::shrug::

   Also,
   Of the live productions I've seen, one of my favorites was a
   Shakespeare in the Park production of a Comedy of Errors.

   Simple costumes. Minimal sets.

   But the courtesan was continually going up and down the rows of watchers
   trying to expand her customers base, Angelo missed no opportunities to
   advertize his fine gold wares to anyone who looked rich enough to afford
   them, and Dromio (borth of them) would make a beeline for the largest
   people in the audience to hide behind whenever he got in trouble with
   his master.

   I think there's a kind of fun in that you simply can't get from a movie.
