I have rarely attempted fiction, having convinced myself at
a very early age that while I could write very good
expository prose, I simply wasn’t a storyteller. However,
one of the two best pieces of fiction that I have written
qualifies as fan fiction, I suppose: it’s the story of
another incident in the long career of John Brunner’s
Traveller in Black. (The other is a kids’ read-aloud
   story.)

   haggisss.
