   English has a whole raft of phonemes that don't appear in Latin.   
   Particularly since the Great Vowel Shift.   
      
   No, more like the time I sat in on a prayer service with some   
   people who were into "speaking in tongues." They were speaking   
   gibberish with English phonemes, English syllabic canon, English   
   suprasegmentals*. (I was a Linguistics major at the time.)
