The very concept of a title as a permanent and intrinsic component of a
literary work, part of the author's creation, is a modern one. "The One
about Troy", "The One about Odysseus", "The One about Aeneas".... Even
in Shakespeare's day, the concept of a "title" was still rather
loosey-goosey -- something you scribbled on the first page so you could
   find the ms. again.
