   Oh, they can but it isn't easy or common. My mother's little white Poodle   
   named Sugar was litter-trained. Mom said that it wasn't even that difficult.   
   Our Lab da Bear, used the litterbox several times as a puppy, before I lived   
   with him. He seems to have    
   been imitating the five Himmys that lived there and he started getting regular   
   walks before it became a habit. I don't know if his litter-using would have   
   amounted to anything had he not been walked.    
      
   I've trained dogs professionally but I never tried to litter-train one.
