Thanks. But the truth is that I would probably be better off hiring a
   professional, anyway.

Art has always been a secondary activity for me, and that shows in how
long it takes me to produce something I'm willing to put on an actual
published book. Especially if I'm painting, but some of the 3D
modelling I did took me almost as long.

Realistically, at current average production rates, I can produce in a
year roughly one book and two painted covers OR two books and no covers.
(Or four to six covers and no books, but what would be the point of
   THAT?)

My publisher/husband votes for two books a year and no covers. He
thinks we can manage to make enough to cover the cost of hiring someone
   else to do cover paintings.

And I have so many books I want to write, that I'm leaning that way too.
Although I would hate it if I never got to do any artwork at all.

Cool! Hopefully the same service will eventually catch someone for whom
   it isn't too late. :)
