   A flat earth was common knowledge once as well. Didn't make it true.   
      
   Yes, the iPod is made in such a way that the battery is /not easily   
   replaceable/ by the average user, you can't just walk into the local   
   corner store and buy a replacement battery and they don't come with   
   instructions that say "slide cover A and insert battery B" - but if   
   you are reasonably tech savvy, or willing to hand your iPod to a third   
   party tech (which will negate any warranty ......but if your iPod is   
   past its warranty period anyway, what the heck?) it can be done.
