   But still an element. If you look at the official definition of element   
   which is, (without looking it up myself), a chemical substance that is in   
   its most basic form and incapable of being further broken down into smaller   
   parts.   
      
   Of course, they were defined thus before the atom was split, but it's still   
   a pretty good definition.
