   It does seem a bit odd that anyone would use The Black Hole as an example of   
   good special effects.  That movie came out after Star Wars, yet its 'robots'   
   were trash cans...with moving cardboard inserts...with Crayola drawings of   
   eyeballs on them.  The movie had effects, but they certainly weren't   
   special.  In fact, I think the entire budget for that film was used up on   
   the one scene of the fireball 'rolling' slowly through the middle of the   
   ship.
