I actually liked that ep you're slamming that had Merrick in       it, but I'm much more fond TNG than a lot of folks are, apparently. I       accept my deficiency there. :-) (and not just because I think Stewart       is hot)       >       >Battlefield is the same kind of story. It's more about stroking our       >egos than dealing with a problem. The premise is "Look at us. We're       >so pure that we can't even understand why you're fighting." That's       >nice, but if you haven't got a clue, you can't really be of any use.       >And sure enough, they aren't. They sit around twiddling their thumbs       >while Bele and Lokai play their game out.              Oh it's definitely a billy-club over the head, but as I stated, I was       glad to see the issue addressed, as were my parents. Even a child can       comprehend it, which means probably most of the adult audience gets it       too. But I fully acknowledge the failings of the ep.       >       >Add to that the fact that just not very much happens in the episode.       >They pick up Lokai. They pick up Bele. They yell at each other.       >They argue whether to go to Charon or Starbase Whatsis. They go back       >to their planet. The self-destruct sequence is the only interesting       >bit in there. It feels like a 30 minute story padded out to an hour.              hehehe - how about this - we can both agree it's a lousy Trek ep. But       for me, it was another supporter of the cause in which my family was       deeply entrenched at the time. We were living in Washington, DC then,       and we were there during the MLK race riots. So that cheesy ep was a       ray of sunshine for us.       --       Natalie              Conventions!
