   I think it's very likely that this episode was a direct inspiration for   
   the movie "The Truman Show",   
      
   There is that touching and heartrending scene where Truman literally   
   touches the sky of his phony climate-controlled world, and what he feels   
   then is evidently what a character in this ep felt when he had a similar   
   experience.
