Why should the franchise be       > confined to just television and movies?              You're better to ignore idiotic "canon" ... after all, the show       "Enterprise" is and JarJar Abram's silly reboot movies are supposedly       "canon", but the makers of both need to be fired out of a cannon at       point-blank into a solid concrete wall!!              The best approach for silly "canon" is to simply take everything       officially licensed Star Trek related and divde it into levels of       "canon". You might end up with levels like:               live-action movies and TV shows        animated TV show        resource books        novels, audio books, and comic books        computer games        blurbs on action figures / toy packaging        etc.              Any question not answerable by higher levels can therefore be taken       from the lower levels. As a silly example, you might wonder if Spock       ever drank Coca-Cola. From the movies and TV shows the likely answer is       "no" (except maybe in teh silly 'Save the Whales' movie), but reading       through the novels you may find an answer of "yes". If you reach the       bottom of the list without finding an solution then the answer is       simply "unknown".              You could even take it to further lower levels by including fan fiction       movies (especially the better ones with the original actors) and       stories, but a lot of fan fiction contains ridiculous dross, so you       could easily end up with some insane and even pornographic "answers" to       very rare questions.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
