   Maid Marion originally had her own story, in which she   
   defended herself against a knight who meant to rape her,   
   killed him, and had to flee to the woods. I'm guessing   
   some forgotten storyteller thought that Robin and Marion   
   would make a good crossover.   
      
   Robin originally dated a gal named Clorinda, described as   
   "the queen of shepherdesses" but without much else to go
