The Doctor is       > totally irrelevant to this story so why waste time talking       > about him instead of developing the characters in this       > specific story in a meaningful manner as in Interstellar?              By mentioning the Doctor I keep coming back to the issue that       if all those Sea Devils rose up in cities all around the world,       as depicted... would the Doctor really just ignore them and not       get involved? Ncuti's Doctor might have gone [somewhere], but       there's still a Doctor relaxing in London. So for me, the Doctor       should have just been ignored completely, as by mentioning him       it's just drawing attention to the fact he's not bothered to get       involved in such a major conflict alongside UNIT.              > Why would the audience know the whole backstory of the Sea       > Devils? It comes       > a poor second place to the political messaging.              There was ALWAYS going to be a political message.              It's a BBC drama in 2025 - you wouldn't expect anything else!              > And then all the woke lecturing begins from the mouthpiece of       > the fish lizards. (Which       is why I thought this series would have been broadcast around       Earth Day in 2026.) It was the raison d'ĂȘtre behind the whole       series.              > And then the fish lizards decide to drop the wreck of the       > Titanic into the middle of New York.              Not NYC!!! I've family there.              > Finally at the end of the second episode Tovey is forced       > to agree to meet the fish lizards at the bottom of a 5 mile       > deep ocean trench in the middle of the Atlantic, which is       > basically impossible.              In fairness, Pertwee's Doctor went down under the sea to meet       the Sea Devils in their caves in 1972.              > Absolute complete and utter garbage is all this story is about       > and all this story is.       >       > 0/10 for both episodes.              IF - and I mean IF - I was rating the first two episodes I would       have gone for something like 6/10 for Ep 1 and 5/10 for Ep 2,       but I would rather judge the whole series once I have seen all       five episodes.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
