From: solar.penguin@gmail.com              The True loon looked on wrongly:              >       > I'm will review this story written by Pete McTighe and devised by Russel       > T Davies in comparison to The Abyss directed by James Cameron              It’s a BBC Sunday evening drama. You would be better off       comparing it to Prisoner 951 or Riot Women etc.              >       > He should have been crushed by the water pressure around him unless he       > was breathing liquid instead of air as seen in The Abbys, and if not by       > that by the bends when resurfacing at the speed he was accelerating       > upwards at, if the writers had the faintest clue.              IIRC the bends is caused by rapid change in pressure. It       was already established that the big bubble they were all in       was at surface pressure. As long as Salt’s hydrostatic water-bending       kiss maintained that pressure, there was very little risk of       the bends.              The real question is why didn’t all the other Homo Aqua escape       that way? (I can understand why they might not want to rescue       the remaining humans though.)              >       > After this the fish lizard and Tovey are retrieved by UNIT and the fish       > lizard incarcerated.       >       > During it's incarceration a deep fake video is posted of the fish lizard       > threatening humanity.       >       > Next a Greek mercenary attempts to assassinate Kate Stewart       > whose gay toyboy boyfriend no one cares about is killed              Gay? Was he using her as a beard? If so, why was the relationship       secret?              >       > Is this why the files were stolen from UNIT and given to the crooked       > far-right businessman in the first two episodes or is is that to do with       > something else?              What files? It was Homo Aqua tissue samples that were stolen       and given to the businessman.              >       > At this point I totally lost the plot. BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ONE!              And yet you can’t even remember the very few plot points that       there were.              >       > Then the British PM, for no reason, is seen ordering the murder of some       > businessman who is a former friend of his connected with the       > assassination attempt on Kate, in order to save his bacon because of his       > connection with him, or something.              I think that might’ve been the same businessman mentioned above.              I could be wrong but it looked as though the evil generals tricked       the PM into killing him because now he’d given them the tissue       samples he had outlived his usefulness. They told the PM that       he was also working for another rival warmongering conspiracy       that they blamed for the assassination attempt and the bomb.       But we have seen any evidence that this other conspiracy even       exists, so they were probably lying.              But yes, you’re right. This sequence was very confusing. Hopefully        it will be cleared up next episode when UNIT get round to       investigating the murder.              >       > The fish lizard is to be taken to be experimented on or dissected to       > create a sonic weapon or something to use against her species, but Tovey       > rescues her by commandeering and then hijacking the truck her cage is       > loaded onto and driving it backwards into the Thames, and after Tovey       > jumps in after her they both escape together, using her magic powers,       > another kiss, or something.              How did Barclay know that driving backwards then braking would       cause the chains to come undone? And the tank door to open?              He would’ve looked very silly if it hadn’t worked!              >       > He tells his ex-wife to drive the car to Westminster Bridge where he       > will be waiting for her,              No, it’s the fictional Jubilee Bridge that seems to be upstream from       Westminster, somewhere between the Charing Cross railway bridge       and Waterloo Bridge.              Talking of fictional geography, the building where the talks take       place seems to be on the real-life site of Lambeth Palace, the       official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury. So       where does he live in the Whoniverse? (That’s assuming it       even has an Archbishop of Canterbury in the first place!)              --       solar penguin              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
