   Possibly. There's something about the sun anyway on or around   
   the 6th January in ancient pagan times in Europe, but I'm not   
   actually a Pagan. (Howling at the full moon is not me being a   
   pagan, it just happens of its own accord!) The fact the   
   Christian church decided to impose their own festival(s) on that   
   actual day was all part of the 'conversion' process of the time,   
   so there was definitely some sort of pagan festivities on that   
   date.
