The first part of that demonstrated both that Finland, by itself, could
inflict large costs on the Soviet Union, and that the Soviet Union, with
its vastly greater resources, could defeat Finland. The second part
demonstrated that Finland could defeat the Soviets--provided that the
Soviets were spending most of their energies fighting the Germans.

After WWII the Soviets no longer had to deal with an invading army. You
can probably offer a better guess than I can as to whether, if another
Russo-Finnish war had broken out, the Finns would have been willing to
repeat the heroic defense of the first one, or whether they would have
accepted the implications of having lost it.
