   Finland achieved it's primary goal: sovereignity and no Red Army   
   occupation. This of course was achieved by a combination of fierce armed   
   resistance and smart diplomacy. When one makes a deal, especially when   
   you are 'the little guy', concessions are part of the game. We did not   
   have to give up the things most important to us. It was the best deal   
   available under the circumstances. I bet the Baltic states, Poland   
   Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria etc would have swapped parts   
   with us in a heartbeat.
