Well put. Although we weren't indoctrinated by Marxist teachers (we've
hardly had any). The fantasy that Finland was a 'favoured daughter of the
Soviet Union' was not ideologically induced. It was rather a case of mass
self-deception: people did not *want* to believe that we were a Soviet
vassal. We've had similar delusions before. In the 19th century we used to
believe that Finland was not really part of the Russian Empire.

What's tragic is that so many people here still are so afraid of displeasing
   Moscow.
