   I'm curious:  did my initial post provide enough clues to help you with   
   that?   
      
   (At the time, I had no inkling that it was less offensive in the US than   
   it was here, so my intent was more as a memory/perspective jog ("Oh   
   yeah, that") than an explanation; I'm just curious as to whether it   
   could also function as an implicit explanation or if it was too oblique
