   If I may interject:   
      
   The current usage of the term cull in the U.S. means inferior for   
   market. In vegetable farming, the culls are often turned under in the   
   field or given away free to farm workers, friends, and family. With   
   livestock, it used to be that the culls were what made it to the   
   farmer's table.   
      
   Keep in mind that any blemish or substandard size means a vegetable or   
   livestock won't bring as high a price or will be rejected outright.   
   Thus there may not be anything edible wrong with a cull.   
      
   What they do with livestock culls today I don't have a clue, but I   
   suspect they get used for non-human consumption.
