From: keREM0VEvin_c75@yahMUNGEoo.com.bogus              This isn't really a contradiction in terms. The assumption seems to       be, given the history of Communism, that a Communist must be an       atheist . That's not the case. In fact, one can be a staunch Christian       and be a devoted Communist. That's because Christianity tends to be       neutral when it comes to secular governments. Thus there can be - and       have - Christian monarchists, Christians committed to democracy,       Christian socialists, Christian communists, and Christians of every       political stripe in between.              The reverse of this is the assumption that if you are an evangelical       Christian in the U.S., you also vote Republican. Not at all. Not many       people realize this, but a great number of black churches are       evangelical in nature. In 2000, most black evangelicals voted for Gore       while most white evangelicals voted for Bush (if you want a cite, I       can't provide one, as it came from a news report on a survey of       Christians). Liberal and conservative theologically has nothing to do       with liberal and conservative politically.              So yes, there can be Communist Christian leaders. The very term makes       me think of the wave of liberation theology in South American in the       latter half of the 20th Century.              - Kevin J.
