   It used to be that if you wanted to work, you had to put up with your   
   colleagues smoke. One of the (very few!) advantages of the summer job in   
   the biscuit factory was that people weren't allowed to smoke in the work   
   place.   
      
   One issue that hasn't been raised is health and safety. Tragedies like   
   the Bradford football stadium fire and one of the serious Tube fires   
   were caused by carelessly disposed of cigarettes.
