Just curious, but point is there in claiming that intelligence is purely
due to inheritance or that IQ is a useful measure of anything?

Over here in the UK it benefits none of the political parties to take
this view. If achievement is pre-determined by factors over which the
individual has no control, then the Tories cannot blame the poor for
their situation and say their poverty is due to their fecklessness.
Neither does it benefit Labour, who want to improve people's lot by
improving their living conditions and giving more equal access to
   education.

So, if you want to be cynical, it's not so much political correctness
but political expediency that drives opinion over here.
