From: OA@red.hotrod.com              I am finally (after perhaps 35 years) turning my mind and time to the       Wilhelm/Baynes translation of the Book of Changes (foreword by CG       Jung) and recall an extremely well done SF story at least 20 years ago       which involved the I Ching in its structure. I cannot for the life of       me recall who wrote it but it is in the caliber of Pohl, Silverberg       etc, that is, "soft" SF. The plot? Future uneducated society sends       off astronauts to Alpha Centauri, long trip involving time dilation,       they do not slumber but must engage for aeons (subjective) solving       incredible problems, developing paranormal abilities, one deciphers       the I Ching and actually uses it, they are long forgotten when they       dramatically return as "Golden Ones" quasi gods...              It foretold SMS style and other things, and if I recall correctly, was       a masterwork. I may have it in my library but it would be a sizeable       task to find it. Can anyone help? I don't know the title or the       author as I have not read it for at least 15 years.              Best              Orggl              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
