   (Omnivoracious) - After a delay of a couple years, The Carl Brandon   
   Society announced the winners of their 2006 and 2007 awards. The   
   winner of the 2006 Carl Brandon Parallax Award is "Mindscape" by   
   Andrea Hairston. The 2007 Carl Brandon Parallax Award winner is "The   
   Shadow Speaker" by Nnedi Okorafor. The 2007 Carl Brandon Kindred Award   
   winner is "From the Notebooks of Doctor Brain" by Minister Faust. A   
   2006 Carl Brandon Kindred Award was not awarded by the society.   
      
   The Carl Brandon Parallax Award is given to works of speculative   
   fiction created by a self-identified person of color. The Carl Brandon   
   Kindred Award is given to any work of speculative fiction dealing with   
   issues of race and ethnicity; nominees may be of any racial or ethnic   
   group. Both awards include a $1000 cash prize...
