   And if they use directional transmission/reception, circular   
   polarization and a precise direction, time and location encoded in the signal,   
   you can use other cars' signals to determine 1) their location 2) path   
   their signal took to get to your car, and thus obstacles in the   
   surroundings.   
   Very hi-tech, but doable - if not today, then in a few years.
