   Yep, but none of them go anywhere near where you want to go nor make it   
   easy to carry home bags full of shopping, so you still drive your own   
   car.  ;-)   
      
   As has already been said, the population density of cities like London   
   and Manchester make buses more of a workable option (although still not   
   even remotely suitable for everyone). Here in New Zealand, for example,   
   the biggest city Auckland covers about the same land area as London,   
   but the entire population of the country is much less than London, so   
   buses are not really workable. Plus, whenever the idea of increasing   
   the population density is brought up, the people start whining about   
   ugly high-rise apparentment blocks, etc. and instead want to use   
   surrounding land to spread suburban housing even further out.
