   Crayons, eh?  I remember seeing such games played at the MIT   
   Strategic Gaming Society back in the late 1970s with felt-tip   
   markers that laid down some sort of especially easily wiped-off   
   trail.  And which were prone to drying out quickly -- to this day   
   I can remember the guy who owned the game constantly growling at   
   the other players "Put. The. Cap. Back. On. Your. Pen."
