You are evidently unaware of Jim's Holy Blood Oath before God (alias
Michael Cook) and me. God (alias Michael Cook) is a gentle, tolerant
and forgiving (as divine beings all too rarely are), and may one day
release Jim from his oath, but I'm not, and I won't. Never. Not even
if the Stupid People[tm] make a better film version of The Lord of the
   Rings than the NeeZees did.

But in case you're still in doubt, let me remind you of the Sacred
Text in which the Value-Added Savior announces our mission to the
   heathen:

"see, the mean people know who they are. the problem is the stupid
people don't know who they are, so it's the job of the mean people
(who know who they are) to make sure the stupid people are aware that
   they're stupid. see?" - j r sherman

You may now thank me for causing you to be a little less ignorant than
   you were five minutes ago.

   >>our politeness is our downfall.

And how is this worse than our downfall? I'd choose negative vibes
over the bottomless pit any day. God (alias Michael Cook) has never
threatened unrepentant sinners with *negative vibes* in any of the
Usenet posts of his that *I've* read.

   >>i ask you: have you actually ever read any of his writing?

   > Yes. I read some of his poems in us.arts.poetry.

And you didn't go blind? A miracle!

   > Not world class, but not bad, either.

   What isn't bad about them?

I grant you that more than half the words are usually spelled
correctly and that some of the punctuation marks are usually in the
   right places, but otherwise...?

   > He's no worse than anyone else in these newsgroups.

If by "these newsgroups" you meant us.arts.poetry, us.arts.poetry and
us.arts.poetry, you *might* have a point, but the newsgroups line
would have to consist of alt.drivel, alt.illiterate.dreck and
   alt.shouting.drunkenly.on.stage.while.trying.to.work.out.which.pocket.
one's.cigarettes.are.in[1] before I'd be tempted to agree with you.

[1]Yes, I saw thirty seconds of the Dockery video on Veronica's
   Windoze box. Unforfuckinggettable.
