   Huh. I would have thought that the additional pixels would allow them   
   to sit closer to the TV without the individual pixels becoming   
   visible.   
      
   Or perhaps to be able to see Wormtongue's tears as he realizes that   
   Saruman plans to kill /all/ the Rohirrim, including Eowyn.   
      
   Well, either that or because he is overcome with admiration at the   
   size of Saruman's army.   
      
   This sort of thing has happened before, BTW: when I fully converted to   
   DVD (new TV, component video input) I finally actually /saw/ the   
   wormsign when I watched the only /Dune/ worth watching on DVD.   
      
   Indeed, I find it hard to imagine any other effect besides those two.   
      
   But keep in mind that the only relevant experience I have is with   
   monitors and laptop screens, none of them (so far as I know) 4K.
