   It is ten years since I replaced my hot air furnace in the garage with a   
   heat pump in the living areas which did not heat as much of the house.   
   The joy has been in the simplicity of just pushing a button compared to   
   the hassles of operating the furnace.

   Both mine have limited range remote controls but my three year old heat   
   pump is almost as dumb as the ten year old one which is slightly more   
   clever than my $10 electric kettle which requires close proximity to be   
   switched on manually.
