From: bliss-sf4ever@dslextreme.com               "Direct Descendant" by Tanya Huff © 2025        Published by DAW Books. $29.00 US/$39.00 Canadian        328 pages but the story is only 327 pages.        I got my copy at the SFPL-Main.               Well this is about 2 direct descendants but we don't know        that one is until nearly the end of the story.        In the 1830 a group of men made a deal with the Dark        and were sacrificed. The deal was to have no problems with        the silver mine at Lake Argen which they had discovered.        Special powers are given to 4 of the Direct Descendants.        At current time a direct descendant of the original group        is assigned to be on the spot at an overlook. Also on hand        is a young man who stabs himself in the foot and is sucked        into the earth.        Shortly thereafter the rich grandmother of the man hires        an out of work English teacher to investigate and the story        takes off. Huff has a sense of humor as the character is        reading a Lesbian romance on her first night in Lake Argen        in a story which in large part is a Lesbian romance.               I enjoyed the story very much but the Lesbian sex is        not closely described though the romance is.               bliss              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
