From: quadibloc@invalid.invalid              That is, of course, the title of a famous book by Thomas a Kempis.       But recently, I came across something on the web that made me feel like       copying one of Christ's actions. Although I wouldn't really engage in such       lawless behavior... and it would be impossible for me to do so in any       case, given the continued existence of the al-Aqsa mosque.              I was looking on the web for the famous image of the proposed $1 coin for       the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence next year, to       find out what the rights were for the image. It appears to have first       appeared on Fox News rather than a government web site.              Anyhow, I found a listing on eBay where someone was selling a $1 gold-       colored coin commemorating Trump's first term which came with a       Certificate of Authenticity alleging that it was legal tender in the       United States of America. Further searching found another similar coin       with a different design also claimed to be legal tender despite it being       noted as privately issued. Maybe the U.S. Mint has some sort of mint-your-       own program I haven't heard of? Otherwise, isn't counterfeiting a serious       offence - even of foreign coins, in most counries?              But I also found a legitimate privately issued commemorative medal which       was the one that reminded me of the titular Bible story. It's listed on       this page, should you want to support Israel by buying either coin with       Trump's ugly mug on it...              https://www.temple-coins.com/collections/donald-trump              Until recent events in Gaza, I had been highly supportive of Israel, but       as for Trump, I was against him even before his first term, after his       Howard Stern appearance.              John Savard              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
