   Somebody mentioned this book here about a world in which advertising   
   companies controlled the country, and I thought it sounded like the   
   same basic society as that of Fred Pohl's _Tunnel Under the World_.   
      
   It's not exactly but it has a lot of things in common and I recommend   
   reading both of them for comparison purposes.  In both cases, the   
   reality turns out not to be what the reader expected but you don't find   
   out until the end.
