   I have had some success (just some, mind you) in opening/using an   
   "Incognito" window in Chrome[1] to do all of my YouTube listening. The   
   "tailored" recommendations come only from what you listen to during that   
   session, which is good (less slop, more relevant recommendations) and   
   bad (every session starts from scratch).   
      
   2) Re: Footnote 4   
   Since the interWebz are currently claiming that the first word   
   processing software for personal computers was "Electric Pencil" in   
   1976, I have to agree with your rather surprising point - is it really   
   the case that nothing helpful has come along since then?

   [1] There are other ways to do the same in other browsers. For example,   
   I believe Firefox would call their a "Private" window.
