   The neutral is NOT grounded.  It is bonded to ground at the panel to keep it   
   as close as possible to ground potential... but it may be several volts away   
   from ground due to voltage drop in the conductor.  Yes, they are connected   
   together at one point but it is unwise to consider them the same thing.
