Actually, the point is that "nothing" never existed. God did not use
any "materials" at all. No lumber room required.

This is the difference between the Judeo-Christian view of creation,
the Platonist view, and the pantheistic version: God is separate from
the world (as well as present in it), but God created it all (matter
is not intrinsically evil) by fiat.

Literally: "fiat" means "let there be", which occurs often in Gen 1.
In the Vulgate, IIRC, "fiat" itself is used.

This may or may not be helpful:
   .

You appear to have succumbed to some form of materialism, in the sense
of believing that matter is primary. From the viewpoint espoused here,
this would be a form of idolatry: worshipping the created instead of
the Creator. Well, depending on the details, of course; "worship" may
   be a bit strong.
