   Paris, France: The traditional live concert and large gatherings on the   
   Champs-Élysées were canceled on police recommendation due to concerns over   
   crowd movement, stampedes, and general security risks. Fireworks at the Arc de   
   Triomphe still occurred behind bollards and barriers with heavy police   
   presence.   
      
   London: No cancellations but heavy security cordons and massive police   
   presence, including armored vehicles were present at all major events.   
      
   Tokyo, Japan (Shibuya District): The iconic countdown and street celebrations   
   at Shibuya Crossing were canceled, citing risks of crowd accidents, public   
   disorder, and potential targeting in large gatherings.   
      
   Sydney, Australia (Bondi Beach): All events at Bondi Beach, including   
   fireworks and parties, were canceled following an ISIS-inspired terror attack   
   there earlier in December 2025, with ongoing community safety concerns.   
      
   Belgrade, Serbia: Official public celebrations, including concerts and events   
   in main squares, were fully canceled as a precautionary measure for public   
   safety.   
      
   Hong Kong: Major fireworks over Victoria Harbour and large public events were   
   canceled or replaced with smaller, controlled alternatives due to crowd safety   
   and security issues.   
      
   New York City: NYPD on citywide emergency alert. Times Square under massive   
   lockdown with spectators required to submit themselves to complete physical   
   and technological searches of their persons and belongings before being   
   admitted into a what amounted to a segregated holding pens behind fences and   
   barricades.   
      
   Los Angeles: LAPD on citywide emergency alert. All days off canceled for   
   officers. Plainclothes officers ordered into uniform and put on street patrol   
   and crowd control. Downtown concerts and events surrounded by barricades,   
   armored bearcats on the streets, and public subjected to airport-level   
   security screenings.   
      
   Venice, Italy: Restrictions on New Year's events due to crowd control and   
   safety.
