   Trump also often remembers the story from his youth about cutting down   
   the cherry tree. It's one of the stories that he repeats incessantly to   
   anyone within earshot. He just can't stop telling it.   
      
   It seems the young Trump received a new hatchet and used it to chop   
   down his father Fred's prized cherry tree. The senior Trump demanded to   
   know how the tree had fallen. The young Donald says he was tempted to   
   deny his misdeed, but then, looking at his father with the sweet face   
   of youth brightened with the inexpressible charm of all-conquering   
   truth, he bravely cried out, "I cannot tell a lie. I did cut the tree!"
