|    Amazon Prime Roku stick    |

From: ahk@chinet.com              I borrowed the Amazon Prime Roku stick from the library.              It's what The True Melissa said. They promote third-party video and not       their own content. When I plugged the stick in, the first thing that       came up was Landman, which is on Pee+. Four of you praised it so I had       wanted to give it a try.              All they were actually promoting was a one week free trial of Pee+. I       didn't think I could even take advantage of it on a borrowed device.              I had a lot of trouble with the sound. I've got an analog 2.1 speaker       setup, and a digital stereo with lots of inputs (including HDMI as I'm       using it to switch inputs) and output choices. If I had the tv in a larger       room, I could set up 7 speakers and two subwoofers. It has optical input       and a digital output called STRAIGHT which I think is an unchanged digital       path to the speaker.              I heard commercials and promos just fine but with the show's audio, it       forced the stereo to switch to STRAIGHT and I missed hearing the dialog       channels but heard music and some sound effects.              There was no audio setting from Prime to change. The setting was in       Roku, which had to be changed before selecting Prime.              There was a large selection of kids' shows. All I foumd that was       actually from Prime was The Night Manager (2016), adapted from the 1993       John Le Carre novel. It was on BBC One originally and I believe sold as       foreign programming to AMC in the US.              I know I'd read the novel but I believe I had seen the tv series as it       looked familiar. The character played by Tom Hiddleston has been made       significantly younger; Hiddleston was probably 34 during production. The       time period was made more contemporary to 2016 but I think it was a       reasonable adaptation otherwise.              I am aware that a second series was produced by MGM television, now a       sister company, for Prime and released a month ago, original script. It       got lousy reviews. I don't know if I'll bother watching.              This is the version of Prime with commercials, which have been       deliberately inserted to interrupt scenes. That is unacceptable crap.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
