   It's a subculture of America, surely, and I cannot count it as promoting   
   an accomodation of foreign culture supplanting American culture. Now, if   
   they ever decide to become a nation of their own, then they've entirely   
   rejected American culture and should be treated as foreign.   
      
   What I object to is calling the island an American colony. We didn't   
   colonize it; Spain did. We've never been a colonial power. That's not   
   our history. But it's become fashionable in recent years for some to   
   attempt to re-write history, making this false claim about the island's   
   status.
