|    [OT] Police have released former Prince     |
|    19 Feb 26 17:47:29    |
From: no_offline_contact@example.com              It seems the police have released the former Prince Andrew after several       hours in the police station. It is NOT clear of the circumstances: there       has been no statement that charges were going to be laid or that he has       been cleared of any charges.              Perhaps he was allowed to go on the understanding he would turn himself       in tomorrow; that's just me throwing out a possibility, nothing that       I've seen in the news.              It's not unusual in the UK for people to be questioned by the police -       and have their property inspected via search warrants - and then only be       charged weeks or months later as the police examine everything, talk to       witnesses, etc.              For example, the former First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, and       her husband underwent a corruption investigation that involved them       being arrested at their home with the police digging up their yard       looking for hidden evidence; two months later they were arrested and       then released but the inquiry continued for many further months; they       were eventually cleared.              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicola_Sturgeon#SNP_finance_fraud_       nquiry,_arrest_and_clearance              I'd be very surprised if Andrew was free and clear this soon. If that       happens, the media will be all over it screaming from the roof tops that       the fix is in and someone pulled strings to save him.              --       Rhino              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
