   They could film on *film* in 1931. ;-)   
      
   Often some of the best 4K transfers are from movies filmed on actual   
   film. 70mm in particular truly pops in 4K.   
      
   Of course the studio has to be willing to spend the movie for a descent   
   transfer, but for many classic / prestige films, they will spend the money.
