        It is not that there is one thing.  It is the concatenation of   
   them.  I had a bad case of culture shock several years ago.   
      
        I am a Canadian, and I lived in the U.S.A. for twenty months.  I   
   had more culture shock from that than from my ten weeks in China.  In   
   the case of China, I was expecting it to be different, weird.  When it   
   was, I was not very surprised.  I was expecting the U.S.A. to be more   
   like Canada than it was.  I got sideswiped.  I finally had to move   
   back.
