Most addresses (including non-USA) are a mess of mixed and often
   redundant information.

A ZIP code has no inherently meaningful value (endian or otherwise); it
should not be mixed in with "landmark" geographical values in any way.
Reworking the postal code(s) is also something I pondered a few years

It's entirely impossible to determine that based on the address given.
For example, it's possible that John Doe is the only person who occupies
#120, and everything in between is mere moot-endian formality.
