   That's why in Canada you see so many grocery items packaged in 454 gm   
   packages. (For the metrically challenged, that's 1 lb.)   
      
   Of course there have been a LOT of 1/2 lb. (227 gm) packages where   
   over time the manufacturers have downsized them into 200 gm packages.   
      
   My favorite brand of coffee used to be 500 gms which then morphed to   
   454 gms  and then to 400 gms - all with no reduction in price of   
   course....
