   Also, while this isn't quite the same scenario, if you have a vehicle   
   with power steering and power brakes, and the engine suddenly stalls, you   
   still have steering and brakes, you just have to exert more muscle   
   power.  This has happened to me twice, both times just as I entered a   
   sharp curve.  I made it around the curve, stopped the car, and succeeded   
   in restarting the engine.   
      
   If they ever go over to an entirely drive-by-wire system, with no   
   mechanical linkages between the steering wheel and the steering   
   mechanism, or the brake pedals and the brakes, then the car will be   
   uncontrollable if the electrical system quits working.
